About the Book Suzanne, a beautiful young Australian woman in her early twenties is enamoured of a visiting rock star, who invites her to come stay with him in the USA. After several hassles with immigration requirements, she is subsequently smuggled into the States via Canada. Her life at the outset is full of love, excitement and adventure, but it soon turns about face when her partner, Manny Santiago, introduces her to the real world of sex, drugs and rock-and-roll. Her big American dream has turned into her worst nightmare, and she longs to escape back home away from Manny and his LA based Columbian drug cartel, of which he is a major player.
A second smuggling incident into Tijuana, Mexico, during which Manny has business with a Mexican cartel sees Suzanne subject to the desires of Rico, who seduces and rapes her. A pregnancy follows, she aborts for fear of reprisals, and, apart from tender moments in San Francisco and Lake Taho, she realizes her dream is at an end. With the aid of her sister, they escape to Europe. Manny dies at the hands of Rico who follows her to London, where he make his intentions clear, should she return to the USA. |
