About the Author:
Throughout the years Beryl Stevens, has pursued a wide variety of interests, undertaken extensive study encompassing health and life skills and gained practical experience – both in her own quest for knowledge and to fulfil her vision of helping others.
Her academic qualifications and study include a Bachelor of Arts degree in Humanities, a Diploma in Swedish Massage, a post-graduate Diploma in Advanced Massage and Manipulative Therapy, a Diploma in Biochemistry, a Diploma in Iridology, a Certificate in Bach Flower Remedies, a post-graduate Certificate in Theology, a Certificate in Positive Spirituality, a Certificate in Spirituality and Inner Healing, advanced study and training in yoga – to the level of teacher, two years’ training in Tai Chi and further short term courses dealing with natural ways of healing on all levels (body, mind and spirit).
Her work experience has been interesting and varied from being the owner/manager of Prana Health Food shop and manager of Sherwood Health Foods to being a practitioner specialising in Swedish massage and Bach Flower remedies and teaching massage at the Brisbane College of Natural Therapies.
Beryl’s enduring belief in giving is demonstrated by her extensive volunteer work. She has taught English to ESL students at Yeronga TAFE and migrant staff at Canossa Hospital and worked with the Smith Family and Red Cross. Beryl generously supports many charities, including her child sponsorship with World Vision. Beryl has lived in Brisbane most of her life and has three adult children, several grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She has always appreciated the importance of physical fitness and has regularly exercised by walking, swimming, going to the local gym, playing tennis as well as doing yoga and later, tai chi. Beryl, has shared with many all the values that make her so special – compassion, social justice, honesty, forgiveness, self-belief and perseverance in working towards ones goals. She has been “my rock” for many in troubled times and always unstinting in her loving support.
